All You Need To Know About Inspecting Liquid Vinyl Siding

Back in the year 1985, liquid vinyl siding came into existence – mainly as an alternative to traditional vinyl siding. It was cost-effective and can be used on any type of surface. If the installation was done in a correct manner, it could last for multiple years – even much more than the usual life cycle of paints.

That’s not to say that liquid vinyl siding is not used in the current market because even in recent years, it has been quite popular among most homeowners out there. That’s why in this guide, we’ll be discussing the important things you need to learn before you can start inspecting liquid vinyl siding.

A Little Bit Details About Liquid Vinyl Siding

Professional home inspector in Kitchener ON states that before the installation of the liquid vinyl siding takes place, proper surface preparation is always mandatory. Compared to painting, this will be a much more costly affair if the installation doesn’t go correctly.

You can proceed to install liquid vinyl siding on surfaces such as stucco, wood, cement and even other types of building materials. Ensure that the surface is clean, which is why pressure washing is extremely mandatory. Once the surface becomes dry, it should be directly sealed against moisture, before the siding is applied.

If any of the above-mentioned steps are done incorrectly, then the siding will not stick to the surface properly, leading to the growth of moulds & mildews.

The Methods To Identify Liquid Vinyl Siding

When you along with your home inspector starts inspecting a home that has liquid vinyl siding, you’ll not be able to detect the same at first glance. This type of siding resembles paint very easily and has almost like a satin-type of appearance. Therefore, the first thing that you need to do is to ask the homeowner about the same, because only he or she will know what material has been used.

However, if the ownership of the house has been changed multiple times, then he or she might not know about the same. But, if the owner has the warranty papers from the original installation, then you can contact the installers and thereby ask the time remaining on the warranty.

Apart from that, you have to look for issues such as cracks, blisters and peeling – on the surface of the liquid vinyl siding. Even though you might see specific signs of wear & tear, it’s also essential to know whether the installation has been done correctly.

Finally, it should be known that proper care of liquid vinyl siding is extremely mandatory to be able to use it for a long period. Just like you take care of your painted walls, the same must be done for this type of siding as well.
